9S: The Next Evolution is dedicated to the neuroanatomy, assessments, and training exercises focused on the human interoceptive system. Interoception is a key emerging concept in both pain and performance enhancement, and experientially, is vital in helping the more complicated clients you see in traditional programs.

THE CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES OF 9S: THE NEXT EVOLUTION ARE:

Interoceptive accuracy as a key to pain and performance.

Functional roles of the vagus nerve in the rehabilitation and training environment.

Advanced vestibular training concepts, assessments, and drills.

Influence of the tongue and jaw on movement stability and pain.

Neuroanatomical interactions of the respiratory system and pelvic floor.

Muscle contraction and relaxation as an interoceptive tool.

PROGRAM

The Next Evolution course begins by first exploring the neuroanatomical structures most commonly associated with interoception – the insular cortex and vagus nerve. Then, the close interactions between the insular cortex and the vestibular system are explained and explored in depth. New assessments and tools for vestibular evaluation and training are introduced which are tremendously important for your more difficult clients.

Additionally, the neurological and biomechanical interactions between the throat & tongue, respiratory system, and pelvic floor are also primary concepts covered throughout the certification that provide you with numerous new assessments and drills that you can implement immediately.

Finally, an extensive section of the course is dedicated to the use of multiple isometric training strategies to enhance interoceptive function in combination with other forms of training.

OVER THE 4 DAYS OF THE NEXT EVOLUTION, YOU WILL:

Understand the functional anatomy of human interoception.

Learn fundamental and advanced hands-on assessments of the respiratory and visceral systems.

Gain experience with critical advanced vestibular assessments and drills including practical evaluations of the otolith organs.

Assess subjective visual vertical (SVV) and subjective visual horizontal (SVH) to evaluate visual and vestibular integration.

Learn 12 critical rehabilitation drills for the tongue and jaw.

Develop skills with practical pelvic floor rehabilitation and training guidelines that can be applied in any setting.

Practice over 70 specific contraction/relaxation Assisted Contractile Mapping (ACM) drills based on Neurogait assessments.
