People are like a radio. The radio works by vibrating at the same frequency as the radio station. If you are happy, the people around you are usually happy. That is why a yawn is contagious. That is why laughter is contagious. That is why an evil person makes others angry. A whining person upsets other people. Erickson sometimes hypnotized people, gaining mutual understanding, and then he went into a trance; they will follow. You ask what is important, and for each of the things that she says, it is important, you agree with her that it is important, and then you ask, just so that you understand exactly how she feels, to soften it a bit, so that you without giving her a third degree, what she feels is the most important thing about it. You do not give her an FBI grill, you say softly that you want to understand her, so please help you understand how she feels. You will have her criteria for what she wants, and you can adapt your actions and ideas to these criteria. The books and tapes of Laila Loundes and Ross Jeffries are especially good at building relationships. If you get mutual understanding, you will win most of the battle: then you will lead the other person to the decision you want.
